I saw a post a couple years ago from Alex Hormozi on ways to generate clients during holidays. He mentioned a Black Friday Gift Card and I tested it last year to see if it was legit. Essentially you take the price of a month of your service and put it on a gift card. In my case I made 50 $200 gift cards. But you sell them at a deeply discounted rate and the only rule is you CANT buy for yourself, it must be as a gift(black friday holiday spirit) and they must send you the persons name and number that they are gifting the card too.
Results: I basically got paid to get leads for something I would normally give away for free or cheap for a trial period but instead I got $20 for each person to come in and try my program for a month.
I sold out all 50 in a week and we had about 10-15 stay afterward. Not quite as high retention as my 21 days for $21 but it was a nice way to change it up.
Potential Drawbacks and learning experiences:
I wasn’t as organized as it was my first time trying it. So I didn’t have a contract for them stating that “if you don’t cancel by x date you will be automatically renewed for a normal membership the following month. So it turned into peoples month coming to an end and a lot of them just went ghost or never responded, which never happens when I do 21 days for $21 because I capture their card info upfront and it’s on them to cancel by the designated date.
finally, timing it too close could cause a problem for future promos. For example I like to run my 21 days for $21 in January or February. So when I ran the Black Friday Gift Cards in Novemember it was only a month or 2 away from the next promo and we didn’t quite get as many as usual. I’m assuming most of the people who WOULD have signed up for the 21/21 already had a gift card.
But give it a try and just be aware of the potential drawbacks.
Hope this was helpful!
