Lifetime Budget
I was looking at value rules because cost per click goes high sometimes. As I looked into it further, I realized that cost is highest between 6 and 10pm. It makes sense to me not to run ads then. In order to enable this schedule, I need to set a lifetime budget. I can't change to a lifetime budget unless I duplicate the campaign.
1.) Duplicate the Campaign
  1. In Ads Manager switch to the Campaigns tab.
  2. ✔️ Check the box next to your current campaign (e.g. “TOF – Teascarf 3:2:2 Test – Cold”).
  3. Click Duplicate.
  4. In the pop-up, choose “Create as new campaign”, then click Duplicate.
This gives you a fresh campaign with copies of all your ad sets and ads—leaving your live test untouched.
2.) Turn Off Campaign Budget Optimization (if you use it)
  1. Click into the new campaign’s Edit panel.
  2. Toggle Campaign Budget Optimization to Off.
3.) Convert Each Ad Set to Lifetime + Schedule
  1. Still in the new campaign, switch to the Ad Sets tab and click your first ad set name.
  2. Scroll up to Budget & Schedule.
  3. Change Budget type from Daily to Lifetime budget, set your total spend.
  4. Click Show advanced options → enable Run ads on a schedule → paint all hours you want (midnight–6 PM, 10 PM–midnight).
  5. Hit Publish.
Repeat for each ad set in that duplicated campaign.
4.) Turn Off the Original Campaign
Once your scheduled version is live and spending as expected, go back to your old campaign and toggle it Off.
🔑 Why duplicate the whole campaign?
  • Saves you from rebuilding multiple ad sets one by one.
  • Keeps your original test intact (so you can compare performance).
After that, my new campaign will only run outside 6 PM–10 PM each day—just what I wanted.
