There is another aspect of forgiveness that we often neglect: forgiving ourselves. π
When we fail or fall short, we owe it to ourselves to release what God has already forgiven. βοΈπ«
π βIf we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.β β 1 John 1:9
It can actually be pride to continue holding something against ourselves that God has already released. πβ‘οΈβ¨
If He has forgiven us, yet we keep rehearsing the offence, we are placing our judgment above His.
π βAs far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.β β Psalm 103:12
Holding onto it can create bitterness in our hearts π±β‘οΈπΏ
π βSee to itβ¦ that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble.β β Hebrews 12:15
So how do we overcome unforgiveness? π€
By submitting in prayer and supplication, laying down our offences, and picking up our cross daily to follow Jesus. βοΈπ
π βTake up your cross daily and follow Me.β β Luke 9:23
π βDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplicationβ¦ present your requests to God.β β Philippians 4:6
We often forget that His grace is sufficient for us. π
π βMy grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.β β 2 Corinthians 12:9
We have the strength through Him to lay every offence at the feet of Jesus. ποΈ
π βCast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.β β 1 Peter 5:7
So I ask you todayβ¦ π
What offence or burden do you need to lay down?
Let it go. Be set free. Walk in forgiveness and love. πβ¨
Let His light shine through you. π
π βTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.β β Proverbs 3:5
π Prayer:
Father, help my brother and sister today to walk in the healing power of forgiveness. Even when we donβt feel like it or understand, help us not to lean on our own understanding but to lean on You, Jesus. Strengthen us by Your grace to release every burden and walk in freedom. In Jesusβ name, Amen. π€β¨
Live to be a blessing,
Kirstie π
