Yesterday James team took on Ruthin in the league cup, looking at the draw for this round of fixtures was strange to see all teams in the top league had got teams in the lower leagues. However after James team gone on an unbeaten streak confidence was high and the game was used an indicator to see where the team really was. It was obvious when we turned up Ruthin were well drilled and quite a well built side. Kick off our boys caught napping 1 down instantly. Lads pushed up quickly and were awarded a penalty and score tied. Half time quickly came and we were down 3-1. James made a lot of quality stops and was by far the busier keeper. Few changes for the second half and our lads were the ones who started better. A belter of a goal kicked from outside the area and was 3-2. Everything seemed to settle. Then with 10 mins to go everything collapsed and within 5 mins 3 worldie goals for Ruthin made it 6-2. End of the game came and was great to see James still smiling. His mindset was pretty spot on yesterday and it’s a shame that the score line overshadowed his performance. We knew it was gonna be tough, however lessoned to be learned and we move onto the league next week. Have a tough game against Corwen 🧤💪
