Coercive Control
When we talk about TRAUMA AFFECTED children, we are very often talking about children who live in homes where COERCIVE CONTROL is being used.
✨ "using children" is a MAIN tactic that Abusers use to
✨GAIN AND MAINTAIN power and control over the sobreviviente
✨obviously seeing your parent being physically abused will cause trauma
✨if one's parent/caregiver is being abused they DO NOT have the bandwidth to parent so very often children are both neglected and actively abused
❣️I really feel that building community around the sobreviviente is ESSENTIAL for reducing the effects of trauma on children. If a parent is supported and safe then they are better able to meet their children's needs.
