Starting Part-Time Before Going Full-Time?

Hi everyone,

I recently completed the free Dispatcher University course, and it's really sparked my interest in truck dispatching.

A little about me: I'm a software engineering manager, so my background is in building software, automation and systems rather than trucking or sales.

I'm curious about those of you who are now successful dispatchers or own dispatch companies. Is it realistic to start this part-time while keeping a full-time job, then transition once the business is generating consistent income? Or does dispatching require full-time attention from day one?

I'd love to hear how you got started, when you hired help (if you did), and any advice you'd give someone in my position.
