Weekly Check-In: Week of Dec 28th - Jan 4th
What I committed to:
- Mario cover with video
- Marketing focus shift (where we target, not what we offer)
- Thumbnails for videos 2-5
- Start this month's All But Denied song
What actually got done:
- Mario cover: Guitars and bass edited, still needs drums + video
- Marketing shift: Strategic clarity (being implemented through YouTube/Skool plan)
- Thumbnails: Not done yet
- ABD song: Not started
So... 0 out of 4 completed.
But here's what I chose to prioritize instead:
New Year hit and I realized: I can keep putting off the infrastructure problems that slow me down, or I can actually fix them.
I chose fix them:
- Studio lighting: 20-30+ lights reconnected, organized, remote-controlled
- Video setup: NDI + audio routing solved (can now do Cubase walkthroughs without friction)
- Exercise space: Rebuilt and functional
Why this mattered more:
- I've been avoiding Cubase tutorial videos for months because setup was too complicated. Now I can just hit record.
- I've been inconsistent with exercise because the space wasn't set up after we had a storm and I had to move everything in.. Now it is.
These aren't tasks that move the needle this week. But they remove friction that's been slowing me down for months.
The other priority: Relationship
- My girlfriend and I have been ships in the night with how busy life has been. New Year felt like the right time to actually spend quality time together instead of just passing each other.
The honest assessment:
I didn't execute the plan I committed to. But I chose to invest in infrastructure and relationship that serve the long-term better than forcing the original tasks.
Not an excuse - a strategic pivot. But I'm owning that the original plan didn't happen.
This week: Finish Mario cover. Post Videos 2-3. Actually start this month's song.
Your turn - what did YOU pivot on this week? Where did you choose long-term over short-term? Or what did you ship?
