Let’s build a Key West daydream together. 🌴
You wake up in Key West. No work. No errands. No “real life” tapping you on the shoulder. You get one perfect day. Where are you staying? Where do you get coffee? What do you do first? Where do you wander? What are you eating? Where do you end the day? Paint the picture. I want the whole thing. The shoes, the drink, the breeze, the “I am absolutely not checking my email” energy. What does your perfect Key West day look like?

One thing I’ve been thinking about lately
I don’t want Fun in Key West to just be “here’s where to eat and drink.” Don’t get me wrong, I love a good happy hour. 🍹 But what really keeps pulling me back is the story side of the island. The writers. The wreckers. The buildings. The small businesses. The weird little details. The people who built something there, dreamed something there, escaped something there, or reinvented themselves there. That’s the part I want to lean into more. The story behind the story. So I’m curious: When you follow Key West content, what do you wish there was more of? More history? More books? More small businesses? More behind-the-scenes? More practical trip ideas? Book Nook time. 📚🌴
This month we’re reading Green Flash at Sunset by Nic Schuck, and I’m so excited to talk about it here. No pressure on reading speed. Some of us fly through a book. Some of us read three pages, fall asleep, and wake up with the book on our face. Both are valid literary lifestyles. To start us off: What made you interested in this book? Not your favorite restaurant. Not your favorite sunset. Not the big bucket-list answer. I want the small moment. The sound of roosters in the morning.The first sip of Cuban coffee.That hot wall of air when you step off the plane.A weird little side street.A bartender who made you laugh.A walk where you had nowhere to be. What is one small Key West moment that still makes you smile? Mine would probably involve coffee, chickens, and me pretending I am not already planning my next trip before the current one is over.
