Seeing Through the Energetic Illusion People Cast Around Themselves
There is a word in the occult tradition called glamour.
Not glamour as in beauty or fame
but glamour as a spell of perception.
To be glamoured is to see someone not as they truly are,
but as they want to be seen.
In vampire stories, the vampire doesn’t overpower you with force.
They simply meet your gaze…
and you see what they want you to see:
• Beauty instead of danger
• Comfort instead of threat
• A promise instead of a cost
The spell works because it appeals to desire, not logic.
Human Glamour Works the Same Way
Every person carries a self-image they are trying to maintain usually built to survive
So we learn to hold up a psychic identity, like a mirror:
“I’m the good one.”
“I’m the spiritual one.”
“I’m the broken one who needs saving.”
“I’m the victim.”
“I’m the healer.”
This becomes the story others are expected to reflect back.
It is defense.
A shield placed over a wound.
The Work is Learning to See Beneath the Spell
To see ourselves — and others — clearly
is to recognize what is real beneath what is performed.
This is where transformation begins.
