Nutrition for Our Players
Quite recently I went to see Marisa Woodward, now our FAVS nutritionist, and she helped me understand that I was calorically deficient because of all the stuff I was doing and how I was under-fueling. Shortly after I was talking to my neighbor, who owns a crossfit gym, and he was mentioning how my 5 year old must be burning so many calories at school and how important fueling her body was. I remember being in high school and having cereal in the morning, a bagel at recess (because I was starvinggg) and a pb+j sandwich/chips/cookie for lunch. Good luck focusing on school, recovering from recess/gym/school/practice/lifting and being locked in for 3 day tournaments. My body broke down quite frequently in HS/College/Pro and I was always wondering why. On the National Team we had meals catered and snacks/shakes available.. shocker I gained 6 lbs of muscle and increased my vertical by 4 inches in my first summer. If I could get 1 THING across to you all, it's the importance of food and sleep for your athletic journey. Below is a new post by Marisa. I suggest you start understanding how nutrition can impact your performance because it will be useful now and for your entire life! https://calendly.com/feedtheintention/nutrition-call?back=1&month=2025-06
