I don't train for summer
My tram ride to work shows me a future I don't want.
Older people who struggle to stand. Who sit down carefully. For whom one ordinary step is a challenge. I don't know their stories and I won't judge — everyone has their own road, and it deserves respect.
But I know one thing for certain: I don't want that.
When I look far ahead, my goal is specific. Run with my grandkids. Play football with them. Swim in the sea. Ride bikes. Take a walk without calculating how far I'll manage.
I want to be my children's support, not their burden.
That's why I lift. Because without that foundation, no medicine fixes it later. Strength and muscle after 40 decide whether you keep your independence at 70. It's not vanity — it's the best-documented investment in your later life there is.
I don't train for summer. I train for the whole life still ahead.
Your turn: when you picture yourself at 70 — what do you want to still be doing on your own? Write it in the comments. Naming it makes it real.
