What is EPOC??!🔥🔥
EPOC stands for Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption. It is also called as the 'Afterburn Effect'!!🔥✨
It refers to the increased rate of oxygen intake that occurs after strenuous exercise. EPOC reflects the amount of energy expended during this recovery period.
During intense workouts like HIIT, your body consumes more oxygen than usual to replenish energy stores, repair tissues, and remove metabolic byproducts.
The core temp (and muscle temp and skin temp) rapidly increases 1°C to 2°C during exercise, after exercise the temp falls in a gradual way, such that even hours after exercise core temp may still be elevated 0.3-0.5°C.🌡️
In simpler terms, EPOC means your body continues to burn calories at an elevated rate even after you've finished exercising, contributing to greater overall calorie expenditure and fat loss.
