IRON DEFICIENCY in Runners & Athletes!!!
Iron deficiency is surprisingly common among runners and athletes. Intense workouts can lead to increased iron loss through sweat and other factors.
Low iron levels can result in fatigue, weakness, and decreased performance, hindering our ability to crush our fitness goals😩🥱
But fear not❗There are ways we can combat iron deficiency and keep our bodies performing at their best‼️
⚠️Pay attention to signs of fatigue or decreased performance, and get your iron levels checked regularly.
Iron is found in 2 forms:- (Haem Iron that absorbs well in the body compared to Non-haeme Iron😮)
Haem Iron: Present only in Animal foods (Liver, Seafood, Poultry, Beef, Pork)🍖🥩
Non-haem Iron: Present in Plant based foods (Spinach, Lentil: Soyabeans, Mothbeans, Millets, Dry Fruits)🥬🫘
Consuming Vitamin C Foods(Lemon, Amla, Orange, Kiwi, Strawberries, Capsicum) along with iron rich sources can increase Iron Absorption.😇
