Way more satisfying and less needy :)
“Wtf are you talking about Mango?”
Relevance is a drug (and not one of the fun ones)
Here’s what I think.
Relevance is acknowledgment
It’s being noticed
It’s being validated
And given a good boy treat and patted on the head
Personally I love being told what I do matters
I am an artist, 20_+ years in
And it’s still lovely when someone reaches and says
“This is great”
But relevance is also
The sound that we chase
When we look on IG and
see someone doing something
And ask ourselves…
“What if i did that?”

It’s fine to have a space
A style and a vibe that you’re into
And there’s bits of all of the above
Little pockets of music that tickle my fancy
The point I’m making is,
That I’ve found chasing trends feels pretty empty
And has never made me feel good about what I’m making
Because the thing with chasing is that we’re always behind.
A different spin for me is thinking about the space
About the time
The energy in the room
The party
Writing for a real place
For a real experience
Always feels like it’s more real
And therefore more satisfying
