The Moments We Didn’t Plan For
I’ve been thinking lately about how many of life’s meaningful moments
don’t come from careful planning.
They come from something else.
The unexpected.
The unpolished.
The slightly chaotic moments where things don’t go quite the way we thought they would.
I tell my grandkids about these moments and they go “Ohhhh Pa” and we often laugh.
I’ve had more than a few of these over the years.
The kind of moments where I’ve stopped and thought:
“Ohhh Pa… what just happened there?” 😄
At the time, they don’t always feel meaningful.
Sometimes they feel messy.
Sometimes uncomfortable.
Sometimes even a little embarrassing.
But when I look back…
Those are often the moments that stayed with me.
The ones that made me pause.
Reflect.
See things a little differently.
I’m starting to wonder if building a life that matters
isn’t just about what we plan…
But about how we respond to those moments we didn’t plan.
Noticing them.
Learning from them.
Even smiling at them.
Because sometimes the moment that makes you shake your head
is the same moment that quietly shifts your perspective.
These days, I’m trying — not always successfully —
to notice those moments as they happen.
Not to fix them.
Just to see them for what they are.
Little reminders that life doesn’t always unfold neatly.
But it often unfolds meaningfully.
Have you had one of those moments recently…
that didn’t go to plan, but stayed with you?
With Gratitude
