When I ask people how they’re doing, I get all kinds of responses.
Sometimes it’s: “Man… God is good.”
Other times: “I can’t complain. Nobody wants to hear it anyway, and it wouldn’t change anything.”
And then there are the ones who actually tell me how they’re doing.
Those moments matter.
Because sometimes I instantly feel led to say something, do something, encourage them, or simply take it to God in prayer.
But we have to let go of those knee-jerk responses that declare nobody cares.
If we truly believe in Jesus, we can’t let our words seal what faith is meant to surrender.
Lazarus didn’t walk out until the stone was rolled away.
Some of us have placed stones over our own hearts with phrases like:“I’m fine.”“It is what it is.”“Nobody cares.”“Nothing would change anyway.”
But faith doesn’t speak from the grave.
Faith calls things forward.
