The most underrated part of getting on stage
Any Stage.
So many of us feel kind of stupid doing it.
Staring in the mirror talking at ourselves, and even worse watching ourselves.
We rationalize ourselves out of doing it by saying "this isn't the real thing it can't help."
Tim Ferris talked about debuting (I think for his first TED talk) and how he prepared for it. He prepared for nerves and an unknown audience by downing 5 cups of coffee and talking to people pulled randomly into his buddy's company's conference room over lunch one day.
If you want a prep experience, then create the one you think you need.
The most underrated part of getting on stage is practice! PRACTICE!
The top speakers talk about how long it takes them to prepare for a talk and usually it is up 100 hours of practice speaking through their talk.
Please. If you want to get good at public speaking, it is as simple as practice.
So put in the reps, and practice feeling silly or stupid, but get the reps in. Those random feeling will calm a bit in the process as well.
You've got this!
Now go do it!
