A friend said something to me yesterday that stuck:
"A man should do something hard every day."
I've been thinking about that.
Not because life needs to be miserable or we all need to start running 20km before breakfast. 😂
But there's something to this idea.
I came across an interesting 2022 research paper called "Motivating Personal Growth by Seeking Discomfort" by Kaitlin Woolley and Ayelet Fishbach.
The research found that when people were encouraged to embrace discomfort, they were more motivated to engage with challenges and persist through them.
I love this thought:
What if we stopped seeing discomfort as a reason to quit and started seeing it as an opportunity to grow?
Maybe it's a difficult conversation, getting out of bed to exercise, or finally starting something you've been putting off.
Today's challenge: Do ONE thing you've been avoiding because it's uncomfortable.
What's yours? 💪
