Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! This time of year can be challenging for so many of us and sometimes it doesn’t feel like there’s a reason to celebrate. If today is heavy for you, you aren’t alone, and it’s perfectly okay to feel however you are feeling in this moment.
In order to feel better, we have to accept what emotion we are feeling in the moment. Visualize yourself simply sitting next to that emotion and giving it a hug. Often times I’ve learned that my emotions just want to be seen, valid, and heard before they can be released.
What’s an emotion that keeps coming up for you? Sit in it for a moment, let it feel whatever it needs to feel. See yourself giving that emotion a much needed hug. You now feel your solar plexus (stomach area) unclench as you take a deep inhale with a cleansing exhale to follow. Your being feels seen. It feels held. It feels valid. Most of all, your emotion feels safe with you.
