Ever since the first day that I can remember I was surrounded by trolls. Ive traveled to many new places. The scenery would change, and so would the trolls.
I'm wanting to let other people understand. The trolls are not all bad. Yes, some are questionable.... And pretty much have morals the size of a peanut. But..... The ones in my family. Are good, and decent but very protective. You see, they are the Guardian trolls. Most trolls are guardians of some type. How did they come into being? To let you know some of the history of trolls. They are not born from parents. When there is a need for guardians. They are created by the earth 3 at a time. Specific for where they need to be. They all are created when there are new Dragon eggs. Every dragon egg nest has a Guardian troll. They care for that nest. And guard it against any problems that could arise. Most don't even see them because they're quietly watching. When you will hear about people or creatures going missing...well they messed with the nest and they have bad intentions. The Guardian trolls use them as an example. (dont ask what they do with them.. Its not pleasant)
When they are done guarding the eggs. Or I should say, when the eggs have been joined with who they are meant to be with the trolls are then delegated a second place to guard and keep safe. For example that is when they take on jobs of being the trolls under the bridge, or they are the guardians of a snow pass or guardians of a forest. But they all come into being first as the guardians of the eggs. They have an understanding with the Dragons. That no harm will come to the dragons nest and the dragons wont eat the trolls.
Now every troll is male but every 300 years or so one female is created. She is delegated to be the Trollmother. She resides over 12 clans of trolls. She holds the magic that is needed to assign guardianships. Troll Mothers are also like the whole group chief or as the final say in any matter of trolls for example arguments, tussles, and many many pranks that a group of trolls has when there is nothing left to guard. Its the job of the troll mother find the perfect spot for that troll. But when they get so big and bored of all the jobs the trollmom lays a magical layer of Earth over the top of that troll and they sleep until they turn back into stone and earth.
Trolls in their very heart are hard and tough and grumpy and all the things that a guardian should be. To keep everyone safe in their area of Guardianship. Their height ranges in between 5 to 50 feet tall. Most are built very muscular or very smart (But not both). On the other hand, the troll mother are very small and fat. They only stand about 6 to 8 feet tall. Please don't misunderstand. Or get the wrong idea. But they are family to me.
What I want to talk about is what happened to me. The troll mother of this section of the woods was on a walkabout. Learning about her 12 tribes and the guardianships needed. She had only been The Trollmother for 50 years so far. Her name is Urglish the very plump and the wisest Trollmom yet.
She was on the outskirts of The Haunted Fen when she found a stream, and in this stream lay a child. Urglish decided to look closer and saw the child was very pale and at first seemed a tinge of blue... Urglish pondered for a moment thinking how sad it was that a child had been lost and had succumbed to the harsh realities of nature. She started to step over the stream and continue her journey when the child yawned wide and opened its eyes. Seeing Urglish above her the laughter bubbled up and two tiny hands reached for Urglish’s feet. Which startled Urglish and she tipped over and plopped right on her behind in the water next to the child. The childs laughter was so contagiouos that Urglish joined in. Seeing that this was a female child and all alone Urglish made a decision right then and there.... Urglish said in a very loud voice...” I Urglish, the Trollmom and guardian of this area take under my care this child and her name is Aliva which means Noble Gift. “
Sprinkling a bit of magical dust over the child she grunted and growled a spell which roughly translates to (creatures of all kinds will love this being and no harm will come to her while she is under my care) The dust settled on Aliva’s skin and her skin soaked it up and the blue tinge was gone and her skin was no longer sickly pale looking. Taking a piece of her own cloak Urglish fashioned a covering for Aliva. And with a bounce in her step and a little girl child in her arms she continued on her journey.
