Yule
With Yule coming up I thought it would be good to just share some information for those that maybe don’t know or are new to it all:
Yule, rooted in ancient Germanic and Norse traditions, celebrates the Winter Solstice, marking the rebirth of the sun and the lengthening days, with core practices like burning a Yule Log, feasting, and decorating with evergreens, holly, and mistletoe to welcome life and ward off darkness. This pagan festival, known as Jól in Norse, involved rituals of light (bonfires, candles), feasting (often with horse meat in Viking times), and storytelling, heavily influencing modern Christmas customs like the Christmas tree and the Yule log itself, which was a symbolic sacrifice that evolved into a good luck charm.
History & Origins

Norse Connection: The word "Yule" comes from the Norse Jól, possibly meaning "wheel," referring to the sun's cycle or calendar year.
