Navigation system
There is something deeply comforting about a navigation system.
You type in the destination. The route appears. You begin to drive. And then—suddenly—you miss a turn.
What happens?
The system doesn’t scold you.
It doesn’t abandon you.
It doesn’t say, “You’ve ruined the trip.”
It simply says: “Recalculating.”
Within seconds, a new path appears.
In many ways, this is exactly how our gracious Heavenly Father deals with His children.
The Bible tells us:
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.”
—Psalm 37:23–24
Notice what Scripture does not say. It does not say we will never stumble. It does not say we will never miss a turn.
But it does promise we will not be utterly cast down.
Life has twists, detours, delays, and unexpected turns. Sometimes we make decisions we later wish we had made differently. Sometimes we rush ahead of God’s timing. Other times we feel as though we have fallen behind.
But when your life is placed in the hands of God, He does not cancel your promise because of a wrong turn.
He simply recalculates.
Romans 8:28 reminds us:
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Not some things.
All things.
Even the missed exits.
Even the seasons of waiting.
Even the moments when life didn’t unfold the way we expected.
Think of Joseph. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and forgotten in prison. None of that looked like the dream God had shown him. Yet every apparent detour was God recalculating the path that would eventually lead him to the palace.
Think of the children of Israel. They wandered in the wilderness for forty years, yet God’s promise never disappeared. The journey took longer than expected, but the destination remained the same.
Proverbs 16:9 declares:
“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”
God sees what we cannot see. He knows the dangers ahead, the timing required, and the path that will bring the greatest blessing into our lives.
Sometimes what feels like delay is divine protection.
Sometimes what feels like failure is simply God rerouting the journey.
If you are breathing today, heaven is still recalculating your path.
Your mistake did not cancel your calling.
Your delay did not erase your destiny.
Your detour did not disqualify you.
The only way not to arrive is to stop trusting God.
Isaiah 30:21 gives us this promise:
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…”
God is still speaking.
He is still guiding.
He is still directing.
And no matter how many turns life has taken, He knows exactly how to bring you into His promise.
