Wins and Losses: Trend Friday!
Hey Queens, Happy Friday!
I’m writing this from a completely different headspace than I expected to be in today. Life has a way of reminding us that business success and personal challenges can exist in the same breath.
Just got back from Vegas where I had an incredible professional win - something I’ve been working toward for years. But in the same week, I lost my Popo (my grandfather). He was 91, still walking the track every morning, still working his cows, still mowing his grass. He was actually in better health than my mom, even at 91.
Now we’re navigating the unknown. My mom was living with my Popo, and with him gone, we don’t know what care looks like for her. My dad had to come out of retirement to run for county commissioner because my mom lost her job and insurance, and she needs coverage for her medical needs. He can’t live at Popo’s house because it’s in a different county, which would disqualify him from running.
Will my mom have to live with us? I honestly don’t know.
But here’s what I DO know - and why I’m sharing this with you queens:
This is exactly why we build businesses the way we do.
ICON FRIDAY isn’t affected whatsoever by this tragedy. My business keeps running. My team keeps executing. My systems keep working.
