I wanted to be really honest today - my biggest issue at the moment is staffing.
Finding the right people, keeping the right people, managing reliability, energy, communication… it’s just a lot. Sometimes it feels like no matter how good your systems are, you’re constantly firefighting around people — sickness, motivation dips, personality clashes, or just trying to get everyone to care as much as you do!
I’m realising that the hardest part of running a business isn’t the dogs, the marketing, or even the finances - it’s the humans.
How’s everyone else finding this side of things lately?
Are you managing to build a reliable team, or are you in the same boat with staff changes and frustrations?
I’d also love it if we could share some tips on team management and how to keep staff happy in their roles. I do try to put a lot of effort into this but maybe I’m missing something? Working with dogs is hard physical And dirty work, I completely get that so how can we make their lives that little bit better!
