The app itself even offers many perks and opportunities to users, but all is fun and games until it decides to give up on you out of the blue.
You’re minding your business, and poof! Your matches disappear into the void and your app starts lagging; the term for this is shadowbanning.
You’re not the first—or last—to go through this annoying, yet concerning experience. But this ends now! This is everything you need to know about Tinder Shadowbanning.
What is a Tinder Shadowban vs Tinder Ban?
A Tinder Shadowban is a subtle penalty where the app shows your profile to fewer people due to inappropriate behavior.
You can still use the app, but your visibility and chances of getting matches are significantly reduced. Users aren't informed of a shadowban, leaving them confused and isolated.
Unlike a full ban where you lose access to your account and all its features, a shadowban lets you log in and interact but with reduced effectiveness.
It's intended as a mild punishment for violating community guidelines, potentially pushing users to spend on premium features to improve their odds.
Tinder bans also blacklist your phone number, device ID, and email and prevent any use of paid subscriptions.
Is a Shadowban permanent? How long does it last?
Brace yourselves because a Shadowban isn’t something that goes away on its own, meaning it is permanent and needs to be dealt with.
Your profile will remain invisible for as long as it exists or until Tinder decides to ban it flat-out, so waiting it out is not an option.

Well, luckily for us the signs of shadowbanning aren’t all that subtle—after all, it does impact your overall Tinder experience.
1. Your Profile Isn't Accessible via Link
If you do not have a Tinder username, then you can create one here.
Go to Tinder – Settings – Web Profile – Username – Claim Yours – Create a Username

2. You’re receiving very few to no matches and likes.
Shadowbanning means that your profile will no longer be visible to fellow Tinder users, and if it is, it won’t be shown to a lot of them.
This explains why you suddenly stopped getting a lot of matches despite not changing your swiping habits.
Take a look at your feed real quick—are you not seeing as many people as you should be seeing?
3. The Tinder app is glitchy for you.
Technical difficulties are also a common sign of getting shadowbanned—this may include (but not all the time):
Difficulties updating your profile;
Seeing very few people on your feed;

This is why you, before experiencing these glitches, most likely got a warning telling you your action may result in you getting banned.
5. Many of the features you paid for aren’t working properly.
Now, this mainly applies to Tinder Plus, Gold, and Premium features having to do with your visibility (and success) on the platform.
Tinder Boost;
Unlimited Likes;
Prioritized Likes, etc.
If you’ve paid for features that should’ve helped you meet more people yet they’re not functioning properly, it’s a result of Tinder hiding your profile on purpose.
E.g. having no success with meeting matches although you used Tinder Boost to push your profile forward for more people to see.
6. Your matches can’t text you and vice versa.
Go ahead and text the people in your Tinder inbox—are you unable to?
If you’re not able to contact them, or anyone on Tinder for that matter, then it’s most likely the shadowban’s doing.
It goes the other way too: if you can’t message any Tinder users or get no replies from them.

Considering that Tinder doesn’t want to tell us whenever we get shadowbanned, we have to do something ourselves.
Well, operating an invisible dating profile that won’t bring in any matches isn’t a choice, so let’s look into our choices:
– Contacting Tinder Support.

If you’ve been having a lot of technical difficulties with Tinder, such as with messaging people and updating your profile, I recommend you take it up with Tinder themselves.
If it’s a feature not working that’s bothering you, for example, you may submit a request to Tinder to go over everything wrong.
And if you’re genuinely confused about why Tinder is doing this to you, feel free to reach them through their number.
They might help you better understand why your activity is being limited and even get things back to normalcy.
– Completely updating your profile.
Bots on Tinder usually have incomplete profiles with no photos, a short bio, and very few personal details filled out.
Does your profile look the same? If it does, Tinder could be mistaking you for a bot; users could even be reporting your profile.
Before you make an entirely new Tinder account, try giving your profile a makeover.
Change all of your photos (put some if you haven’t already);
Fill out your details (demographic info, preferences);
Put an interesting bio that says “Hey! I’m human!”.
– Opening a new Tinder account and erasing all the data from your old one.
If you're shadowbanned on Tinder, you can start fresh by deleting your account and creating a new one with different details. Here's how:
Clean Your Tinder Profile: Before deleting your account, remove all personal information, and photos, and disconnect Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify from Tinder settings.
Uninstall and Reinstall Tinder: Remove Tinder from your phone via app settings or long-pressing the app icon. Then, reinstall it, preferably using a new Google Play or App Store account.
Use a New Email and Phone Number: Tinder may also shadowban your email and phone number. Create a new email and get a new phone number, either from a phone company like AT&T or Verizon, or online services providing unique numbers for verification like DatingZest Tinderophone service.
Create a New Tinder Account: With your new phone number, open the Tinder app or website. Sign up using this number and enter the verification code sent to you.

What causes Tinder to shadowban someone?
Tinder values its users’ safety and will do whatever is necessary to keep them happy—if someone who violates Community Guidelines comes along, Tinder will do something about it.
Being under the age of 18;
Hate speech;
Getting reported;
Any form of harassment;
Spam;
Nudity;
Illegal activities;
Harmful content.
Inappropriate behavior isn’t where it stops, though, as Tinder could be penalizing you for how you’re handling your account.
Not being active enough;
Swiping too much either only left or right;
Having an incomplete profile (e.g. having no photos and very few details about yourself);
Ghosting your matches.

Other than being on your best behavior, you can also try changing things around your account, such as photos.
Have a balanced swipe technique by swiping right only on people you’re genuinely interested in—in case of a match, don’t ghost them
