We as the girlfriends are the ones that are trying to create a safe space for our widowers to rebuild their new foundation yet unfortunately have to navigate the many challenges when it comes to him, their family, their friends, and his children. Not only do we have to establish a stable environment for them all, but we also have to choose to be extra sensitive to everyone’s tender feelings at the same time. I want us to build our own community of support. We need a safe place to lean into when we need advice that most people wouldn’t understand. We as the girlfriends need to focus on taking those small steps so that we can maneuver this extremely delicate situation with grace. I am so ready to meet other women that have something to say about the hardships that we have been facing while dating a widower. Let us aid each other in finding formative ways in which we can positively help by building a much needed supportive community so that we are not the ones living through it alone!
