Did you know that when you correct your posture and stand or sit up tall, especially when elongating the neck area, that after about 2min your body drops the cortisol levels by up to 60% and increases the testosterone levels by up to 60%! Isn’t that incredible!? I highly suggest researching why they call testosterone the “Success Hormone”!
BUT! It’s also the other way around. You have to know, the body follows the mind and the other way around. Meaning, when you are in any shape or form insecure or feel fear of an audience, your body will automatically go into protective posture, meaning your shoulders and upper body will start to curve and round and form a hump in order to protect the heart and other organs, which will drive the testosterone down and the cortisol up, and therefore start a vicious cycle that get’s you even more and more stressed.
That’s why, as a tiny but powerful stage hack, I highly recommend immediately correcting your posture once you feel stressed (I will share a video with exact instructions soon), in order to drive your testosterone up, to make you feel instantly and literally taller and stronger.
Now, in order to not only see how it changes how you feel, but also how the heightened testosterone makes you more attractive to other people ,I highly suggest a small homework for you:
Next time you’re in a social environment, correct your posture and observe! Not only how you feel, but also how people start behaving differently towards you!
I love the reports of my students who tell me they got more tips at the job, random numbers handed by others and overall positive reactions from the outside.
That’s why, correcting your posture is not only super important for the technical aspect of your overall vocal performance (cause as you know your vocal apparatus won’t work properly when it’s all bent and restricted), but also to enhance your stage presence.
To this topic I recommend watching this old but gold Ted Talk about Power Posing! It’ll tell you all you need to know.
Much love to everyone! 🌸
