Your homework this week:
Before you record the song you worked on tonight, warm up properly:
Lip trills for 2 minutes
Belly breath hiss: inhale 4, hold 4, hiss for 8 (3 rounds)
Meow slides up and down your range'
Then record yourself singing one full verse and chorus and/or bridge of the song you worked on tonight.
Don't overthink it — just go for it.
Here's what I'm listening for:
🎤 Breath support — Picture that candle flame right in front of your face. Your breath should make it flicker — not blow it out. Steady and controlled the entire time you're singing. I want to hear that steadiness in your tone not breathiness or strain.
🎤 Mix voice — Are you flipping into falsetto on those higher notes or are you finding that connected blend we worked on? If you feel your throat gripping or squeezing — stop. Do a gentle yawn first. Feel that open space in the back of your throat? THAT is where your mixed notes need to live. Now try again from that place.
🎤 Overall ease — Does it sound like you're working hard or does it sound like you're singing? There's a difference and I will absolutely hear it.
