What Tom Bilyeu Taught Me About Marketing
yes ... I had a very shitty beard 🀣
no ... I didn't know "beard care" products existed 😏
on the call, Tom opened my eyes to a kind of "marketing" they successfully used to explode Quest Nutrition
I applied it to my own biz at the time
--- and we grew to mid six-figures in under 2 years
I've used it to this day, and the results continue to blow me away
it's ESPECIALLY powerful for marketing your skool due to the underlying laws at work
... magnetism
... entanglement
... attraction
... polarity
Tom referred to it as "mirror marketing"
at Quest, they'd observe the things their audience was doing with the product and saying about it
they'd take note of the common words used, themes that came up, and what was an outlier
then, they'd just MIRROR that back in their own marketing
people LOVED it
they shared content, they engaged, the commented - and the algorithm did the rest
because of this messaging they attracted the right kind of people to the brand
people that were LIKE the people who already loved the brand
this created an unstoppable flywheel
and because their product was so freaking good, the flywheel kept turning and they just had to make sure they didn't fuck anything up
so many people overcomplicate marketing, advertising, messaging, and growth
this is because they get distracted by the noise
... the shiny stuff that doesn't matter
there are core principles and foundations that, when done right, amplify everything else
mirror marketing is one of those principles
your marketing and messaging already exists ... you don't need to create it
what you need to do is LISTEN better, and synthesise the most POWERFUL, IMPACTFUL, and RESONATING parts
then, you continually use that in your marketing
layer on top the right platforms and places, and the rest begins to take care of itself
with time (this is you trusting the process and being patient with it), more and more people hear the message and are attracted to it
the eventual outcome is a tipping point is reached and you achieve a level of social proof that speeds up the process of people trusting you
your goal then is to "not fuck this up"
you do that by:
  • staying consistent in your messaging
  • creating the best product/service you can
  • mirroring out the results of your clients/community members/users
if you're currently "stuck" with your marketing, come back to this basic step
1) go hang out where your ideal clients are
2) listen to the words they're using and how they're describing things
3) start to form marketing messages using this language
4) market
5) analyse the feedback you get
6) optimise based on the feedback
7) repeat steps 1-7
hope you found this educational content valuable
