Password Protect Content
On this past office hours call several participants discussed a desire to have the ability to only show some content (either courses or calendar events) to specific users. There seemed to be a concern that this would impact sorting views and other backend realities of the structure of the database.
Would it be possible to add an option to require a password to access specific content? This seems like it could solve some of the issues while still providing this much desired functionality.
For my particular use case, I have a long course of content which builds on itself. In many situations, it really is necessary for students to have functionally completed the action items of one course before moving on to the remaining material. However, any teacher knows that many students will watch content dutifully and say they have completed the work without ever actually processing the material.
Each of my classes comes with a rubric which the student fills out to validate they are processing each of the components of the topic. Additionally, they will then be required to fill out another form where they go through the process outlined in the class with their own material. They send this information to my instructors and we validate it.
In theory, if we could provide them a password at that point that would allow them to unlock the next course, this would allow us to really hold students accountable and validate their understanding rather than their video completion rate.
Thanks again for all your hard work, I'm just so pleased to be working with this platform.
