If you're considering a beta test to optimize/finalize your offering, here's my approach...
I'm using this to:
  • observe community behavior to ID preferences and watch outs (intentional culture building)
  • help me finalize pricing and the virtual event offerings
  • build a list of questions/topics to create for
  • establish social proof
Targeting 50 people.
Free for 2 weeks. All-Access.
Run the operating system I plan on running once things go live.
Co-create (or rather, they help me create).
Get feedback throughout, with a survey and video testimonial request at the end.
I had insights from my 1:1 coaching business and am 100% confident in delivering results in a 1:1 setting, but have little experience running a community or coaching in a group setting.
3 weeks ago I posted a survey on LinkedIn to get more insights on needs and asked if they wanted to be part of a beta test. (Got 29 responses)
This week, I posted a beta test signup only on LinkedIn (mentioning that if people responded to the first survey, they didn't need to fill this one out). Got 21 more unique responses in less than 24 hours.
I have a week before launch and will keep posting that signup in different places.
I believe in taking action before you're ready, but I also believe in the scientific method and taking action with a clearly informed hypothesis.
I'm a strategist at heart and love understanding the problem and relevant context to inform my approach before I execute.
That "55 minutes thinking about the problem and five minutes thinking about solutions" approach 100% applies.
I'm not just noodling. I'm researching, synthesizing, distilling, and strategizing. And when I am procrastinating, I'm honest with myself about needing to act (even if it might take me a beat to recognize it).
I might not move as fast as others (eg I thought about courses for years but the model just didn't sit right with me given the single-digit completion rates when I care most about impact)... but when I do, I know exactly what I want to do and how I want to do it to ensure impact and my own authenticity.
So if you're like me, you're not alone :)
