I wanted to get off that call even though it was free...
I was on a call yesterday with a style coach that cold messaged me with a calendar link.
I figured I can check her out, as I have a speaking gig next week and I will see what value she can offer in helping me brainstorm what to wear. I dm'd her why I booked the free call.
However, a minute into the call I realize she is using a "sales call" script I got from my coach15 years ago. ๐Ÿคฎ Outdated outdated outdated. And she held to the formula like a security blanket. She totally did not respond to what I shared and what was present for me.
I reminded her why I booked the call and what I expected, and that I think we are not a fit. She kept referring to her script (which I know in my sleep) and looping me back in with more and more questions.
She might have potentially had me pay her if she actually listened to what I need and helped me, rather than try and fit me into her program.
However, her fears and and insecurities made her lose me as a client. I feel for her. People are afraid to be real.
What a lesson for me.
Connect to every person unattached to what you are trying to sell. THAT will be the most attractive selling proposition.
