Updates, Do's and Don't and Exciting Things Coming For You 😯
You can read the summary here or listen into me in the short video👇
1. Introduction & Weekly Recap
Let's kick off another week at School Events Daily. Last week was huge, and the latest weekly bulletin is stored in the classroom so you can access it easily. Katya's summit is happening this week, along with many of your events, making it a bumper edition.
2. Recurring Events & Posting Rules
There’s been some confusion about recurring events. I check with you if you want them listed in the calendar, but updates aren’t always communicated to me.
From now on, no post = no listing in the weekly bulletin, even for premium members. Posts are essential not only to confirm the event but also to promote it effectively and attract attendees.
3. Calendar Images & Formatting
When sharing calendar images, the top-right “3 dots” may appear clickable but aren’t actual links.
Please ensure your calendar images are included with your event post and, ideally, use preview mode so unnecessary icons don’t appear. I’ve been covering them with my logo, but it’s extra work I’d rather you avoid.
4. Improving the Calendar
The current calendar view can be overwhelming and doesn’t provide enough info. Searching through abbreviations is time-consuming and off-putting.
There is another calendar view available that shows the title and picture, making it easier to browse, though details still require clicking.
I’m experimenting with a new template that includes community names, organizer names, and more characters for event descriptions (460 vs 300). If you want to volunteer as a guinea pig for testing, let me know.
5. Countdown Posts
Please do not post countdowns (2 hours to go, 1 hour to go, etc.) in this community feed. It clogs up the feed and prevents events from being seen.
Use common sense and reach out if unsure. Repeated violations will have consequences.
6. DMs & Event Confirmation
If you don’t answer my DMs, your event won’t make it into the Weekly Bulletin. I check the calendar and send previews, but I need your responses to finalize details.
Even premium members must confirm details and respond in time. I can’t keep chasing info—it’s your responsibility.
7. Replays
You’re welcome to post about event replays if you’ve advertised the original event. This helps people in different time zones. Des is already posting replays in the designated category effectively.
8. Volunteer Appreciation
Special thanks to Mary Nunaley, who volunteers to help make the Weekly Bulletin professional and polished. She edits and double-checks the bulletin over the weekend.
Even my daughter contributes with Canva fine-tuning. Let’s acknowledge and appreciate their efforts.
9. Closing
Looking forward to a fantastic week with all your events. More improvements and features are coming as the platform grows. Things are going to get better and better.
