Putting a Pause on the Group
I have been enjoying the process of starting this group, and meeting so many new people. But, I unfortunately can't dedicate the time needed to continue growing and making into a valuable resource. There has been an increase of video work and I hope we can all take advantage of that. Companies have their marketing budgets locked in and want to spend that money by the end of the year - it's a great time to reach out to past clients! The remainder of my 2024 will be spent on client projects, my newsletter, and exploring AI. I'd love to stay in touch! You can find me on Instagram, LinkedIn and my website. If there's anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Better close focus distance for anamorphic lenses
Haven’t posted in a while as I’m preparing for a bigger shoot. But I found myself needing to be able to take close-up shots in this next shoot with my Viltrox Epic lenses but the close focus distance is not optimal as with any anamorphic lenses. So I got a set of diopters from Viltrox. They’re not cheap but as I’m starting a gear rental business I don’t mind investing in this sort of thing. Plus I’ll be using them often.

Shooting in the Salt Flats Next Week!
I’ve been to Utah, but never to the Salt Flats. Anyone in the group shoot out there before? I’ll do my best to get some BTS and cool shots of the gear. If there’s anything you’d want to know about or would want me to share while out there, let me know!

Will AI make camera sensor specs irrelevant?
Been thinking about this lately. Mainly because I’ve been considering if to switch from FX3 to RED. Because the pressure of reputation (all high end production companies use them) BUT also fomo cause everyone raves that RED picture is unbeatable. There’s software out there like cinematch that does a decent job at emulating REDs sensors color science. Don’t think we’re there yet but you can see how in the near future AI will be able to replicate color science, resolution, fps etc. What do you think, are we heading towards a future where you can get away with a cheaper sensor and emulate every sensor+lens look using AI software?

Letterboxd
Anyone else love Letterboxd as much as I do? Would love to follow any others in this community! It’s been a great way to keep a proper movie watch list and also the best way to find out what I want to check out next. https://boxd.it/1fg4t
