DAY 1: THE LAW OF HONOUR – SOWING AND REAPING
Theme: Honour is a spiritual principle that produces harvest
Scriptures: 1 Samuel 2:30; Proverbs 15:33; Romans 12:10; 1 Peter 5:5-6
Honour starts with the choice to recognise worth. Before you can walk in double honour, you must master the basics: treating God and others with the value they deserve. The law of sowing and reaping applies here: what measure you give, the same will be measured back to you—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Abraham honoured God and received covenant; Elisha honoured Elijah and received a double portion; Job honoured God through suffering and got double restoration. Honour is never wasted; it is an investment in your future.
Bible Story: Abraham and Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-20)
After winning a great battle, Abraham refused to take spoils from the king of Sodom lest anyone say, “I made Abraham rich.” Instead, he gave a tithe to Melchizedek, priest of the Most High God. This act of honour acknowledged God as his source, and released a blessing that still speaks today.
Wisdom: Honour is the soil in which favour grows. You cannot expect a harvest of honour if you never plant seeds of respect.

Double honour is not earned from people; it is released from God when He sees your heart toward Him. Honouring God means acknowledging Him as your Source, giving Him the best of your time, talents, treasure, and trust—not the leftovers. When God has first place in your life, He guarantees you the best place. Honour directed upward opens the floodgates for honour to flow into your life.
Bible Story: The Widow’s Offering (Mark 12:41-44)
Jesus watched people give large sums into the temple treasury, but He commended the poor widow who gave only two small coins. While others gave from their abundance, she gave all she had. Her act of honour was not measured by the amount, but by the heart behind it—and it received eternal reward.
Wisdom: When you give God your first and your best, He releases His first and His best over you.

Honour begins in the home and extends to spiritual authority. The commandment to honour parents is the first one with a clear promise: “that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God gives you.” Honouring leaders—biological or spiritual—does not mean agreeing with everything they do, but respecting the office God placed them in. Honour given to authority creates a foundation upon which double honour can rest securely.
Bible Story: Joseph Honouring His Father (Genesis 47:1-12)
Joseph was ruler over Egypt, yet when his father Jacob arrived, he bowed down before him, provided the best land, and cared for him until his death. Even in his greatness, Joseph never forgot where he came from or who God used to shape him. His honour preserved his family line and his destiny.
Wisdom: You cannot outgrow honour. True greatness grows stronger when it is rooted in respect.

Double honour never comes through pride; it always comes through humility. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less and valuing others above yourself. It is the bridge that takes you from basic honour—doing what is required—to double honour—receiving what God freely gives. Jesus Himself, though equal with God, humbled Himself and was exalted to the highest place.
Bible Story: Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet (John 13:1-17)
The King of Kings took the position of a servant and washed His disciples’ feet—a task usually done by slaves. He taught them: “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.” True honour is found in service, not status.
Wisdom: Lower yourself in service, and God will raise you in honour. Pride digs holes; humility builds ladders.

Perhaps you feel you have nothing to give because of past mistakes, loss, or shame. The good news is: double honour often begins where shame once lived. God does not just fix your past; He compensates for it. “Instead of your shame you shall have double honour, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs.” This is God’s signature: restoration multiplied.
Bible Story: Naomi and Ruth (Ruth 1-4)
Naomi returned from Moab saying, “Call me Mara, for the Lord has dealt very bitterly with me.” She had lost her husband and sons and felt disgraced. But by the end of the story, she was honoured as the grandmother of King David, and her life was restored beyond measure. Shame became a stepping stone to double honour.
Wisdom: God does not waste pain. What the enemy intended for evil, God turns into a platform for greater glory.

It is easy to honour those who are powerful, rich, or popular—but true honour extends to everyone, regardless of status, background, or behaviour. The Bible commands us: “Honour all people.” Why? Because every person bears the image of God. When you honour someone others despise, you are honouring God in them—and you open the door for double honour to flow into your life. Honour has no favourites.
Bible Story: David Honouring Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9)
Mephibosheth was the disabled grandson of King Saul, David’s former enemy. Instead of harming him, David sought him out, honoured him, restored all his grandfather’s land, and gave him a permanent place at the king’s table. Honour extended to the least became a blessing to David’s house.
Wisdom: Honour is not reserved for the worthy; it is given because of the One who created them.

Your words and actions reveal whether you truly walk in honour. “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Speaking well of others, avoiding gossip, and acting with integrity are the marks of a person ready to move from basic honour to double honour. Words have power—they either build the bridge or burn it down.
Bible Story: Joseph Speaks Kindly to His Brothers (Genesis 50:15-21)
Years after being betrayed and sold into slavery, Joseph’s brothers feared revenge. Instead of speaking harshly, Joseph reassured them: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” His words and actions reflected honour, not bitterness—and it preserved his family and legacy.
Wisdom: Your words paint a picture of your heart. If you want honour to increase, guard your tongue carefully.

You can receive honour for a while without integrity, but you cannot sustain double honour without it. Integrity means being honest, keeping promises, and doing right even when no one is watching. God looks at the heart. When your life is marked by integrity, the honour you receive becomes solid and permanent. “He who walks with integrity walks securely.”
Bible Story: Daniel and His Integrity (Daniel 1:8; 6:1-28)
Daniel chose not to defile himself even in a foreign land. He prayed openly even when it became illegal. Because of his consistent integrity, the Bible says “an excellent spirit was in him,” and he found favour and honour even among unbelievers. His honour lasted for decades.
Wisdom: Integrity is the bedrock of lasting honour. Without it, honour fades like the morning mist.

- Lord, give me a heart of integrity. Let me be true to You always.
- Help me to do what is right even when it is difficult or costly.

The family is the first school of honour. Honouring your spouse and children creates an atmosphere where God’s favour flows freely. The Bible teaches husbands to “dwell with them with understanding, giving honour to the wife as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.” Honour in the home is the training ground for honour in the world.
Bible Story: Abraham and Sarah (Genesis 18:12; 1 Peter 3:6)
Abraham respected Sarah, and Sarah honoured Abraham. Their relationship was marked by mutual respect. Because of their honour toward each other and toward God, they became the parents of many nations. Honour in the family builds a heritage of honour.
