Our identity comes from Walsingham, England’s Nazareth. According to tradition, in 1061 Blessed Mother Mary appeared to Richeldis de Faverches and showed her the Holy House of Nazareth, where the Annunciation took place. Where Mary heard God’s word and gave her yes to His will, where Christ spent His hidden years before His public ministry.
A replica was built at Walsingham, which became one of England’s great places of Catholic pilgrimage.
Our Lady’s response at the Annunciation therefore gives us our motto:
According to Thy Word.
