My name is Grant I am the newest member to the cardvault8 team. Just like anyone else I loved to collect my favorite players when I was younger. A few years ago I had all my cards from my childhood sitting around so I decided to start on eBay. Me and my dad would do a couple listings a day and make a sale every so often. We slowly started scaling larger and larger going to card shows and shops to purchase inventory. Until we reached 1000 listings and thousands of dollars in sales. Once we got to this goal of 1000 listing I realized how much time and effort I was putting in to this. It completely unmotivated me and I was going to wait and get a normal job. This was until we discovered whatnot. Whatnot brings all the joy to cards that eBay lacks. We started out with our first couple of streams just taking requests and giving people great deals. We sold mainly vintage cards that we had bought from a collection of a neighbor. These shows were doing great and we were having a great time but then we sold through everything we had. I thought that we would have the same success with modern cards that we did with vintage but I was wrong. I didn't understand how I had the same cards as the big streams and not making any sales. I averaged 3 viewers and maybe 5 sales a stream. Along with this I didn't know the right ways to stream so I was throwing money down the drain on promotion when I didn't even know what I was doing. After having a stream where I lost $150 I quit. Then everything changed for me one afternoon. Jack sent me a text asking about the cards that I had. He offered to let me bring them to his stream the next morning. I had watched jack's streams a couple of times and they always gave me hope for what whatnot could be. This was my perfect opportunity to see what this vision could become. And it went better than all of us expected. We had one of our best streams every that day. I found that the platform or the viewers wasn't the problem. It was how the streams were run. Now we are trying to share these ideas with the community. I am thankful for Jack and Gerry for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the card vault academy. I hope we will be able to build a great community and further expand the platform of whatnot.
