I'm Eduardo Azcona, and I've spent my life in the mountains.

WHAT I DO: Since 2011 I've run Travesía Pirenaica, a project through which we've guided and mentored THOUSANDS of hikers and trekkers across the great long-distance routes of the Pyrenees — the GR-11, the GR-10, and the Alta Ruta Pirenaica (HRP). Helping ordinary people prepare for, and complete, big multi-day walks is simply what I do.

WHERE I'M WRITING FROM: Estella-Lizarra, a town in Navarra, between the Pyrenees and La Rioja, sitting right on the Camino Francés. Pilgrims walk past my door every single day — I've watched thousands pass through, in sun, rain, spring and autumn. The Way is my neighbourhood.

MY OWN CAMINO: I rode the Camino Francés by bike — a different rhythm to walking it, but it taught me the whole route, town by town.

WHY I BUILT THIS: I've seen how much a first-timer worries before a big walk, and how a little expert guidance and a warm group changes everything. I wanted to bring what we do in the Pyrenees to your first Camino.
