Why things take longer than they need to (and how to fix that gently)
Ever notice how something you give all day to somehow takes… all day?
But when you only have 20 minutes? You suddenly get it done.
There’s a name for this: Parkinson’s Law
“Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.”
Most of us don’t struggle with motivation. We struggle with open-ended time.
No deadline. No Container. No finish line.
So tasks stretch…Energy drains…And progress feels heavier than it should.
One small shift that’s helped me:👉 Decide when you’ll stop before you start.
Not perfection.Not “finish everything.”Just a clear container.
Example:• “I’ll work on this for 25 minutes.”• “I’ll publish something by tonight.”• “I’ll make it messy and move on.”
Momentum comes from movement — not pressure.
