"Embracing Ubuntu and Sankofa."
I established Women That Write as a creative and safe community where women, especially those of African ancestry can connect, support, and grow together. Rooted in the African philosophies of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"— and Sankofa - "go back and fetch it," the community embraces tradition, honoring the legacy of Ubuntu and Sankofa.
We are crafting our life stories to let others know the path that we have already traveled. Here, we reclaim and amplify our authentic culture voices by crafting our stories in a safe space for collaboration, learning, and lifting each other up to preserve and create our legacy while shaping our futures.
