Welcome everyone. I created this group as a space for us to practice **portrait photography—learning to capture portraits in both studio settings and outdoor environments—**while learning deeply from one another. We are all living busy lives, balancing work, family responsibilities, travel, and sometimes our art comes last, so my intention is to offer a supportive space where we can grow, stay inspired, and stay connected.
Alongside photography, I also dabble in all creative things, including painting and music production. I record curated DJ sets—sometimes in my living room, at gigs, outdoors, or even in a hotel room on a tiny setup—and occasionally perform as an EDM DJ. Traveling for a living inspires me both musically and artistically, and I share these mixes on SoundCloud through my project Aurora’s to support focus, flow, and creative reflection.
I’m a self-taught photographer based in Los Angeles with a huge burning desire to grow and create through photography, and you’ll see some of my work here in the group. I feel blessed to get to work with creatives every day, and being surrounded by them fuels my passion. That energy and vision—supporting creativity, growth, and connection—is what I want this group to be all about.
This group is for anyone who’s interested in portraiture, exploring self-expression through our art, or improving their photography skills. Whether you’re capturing emotion in a studio or experimenting outdoors, this is a space to learn, share, and grow together.
From time to time, we’ll also reference ideas from books like The Artist’s Way—using writing, reflection, or small creative rituals to spark inspiration and keep our artistic energy moving. There’s no pressure to follow it strictly; it’s just one more tool to support both your individual practice and the collective creativity of the group.
And now it’s your turn—— Please make your first post introducing yourself! If you’re a photographer, include your name, the type of camera you shoot on, what kind of photography you enjoy, where you’re located, and how often you practice. If you’re not a photographer but still appreciate photography, tell us which kinds of photos you love or desire—maybe you love to model, and that is your passion. Along with your introduction, feel free to share anything you’re currently working on—no matter the lighting or editing—and include the intention behind your photo. Be open to receiving feedback, critique, and support from the group.
