All glory to Christ the King, King of the Universe.
We all grew up hearing the phrase “What Would Jesus Do?” Most of the time we used it to stop ourselves from snapping back or cussing someone out after they insult us. But let’s go deeper.
Jesus is a Servant King.
He loved everyone, no matter how broken they were.
He fed the hungry, clothed those who were cold, and forgave anyone who asked for mercy.
Look at St. Dismas, the Good Thief. Even as Jesus was beaten, battered, and dying, Dismas begged Him for forgiveness. And Jesus, with a heart completely open, forgave him. On the Cross Christ even forgave the people who hated Him and nailed Him there.
That is what it means to be a Servant King. He leads by example.
So when I see people holding “No Kings Day” rallies, the message is missing the truth.
You do serve a king. Every single one of us does. You either serve Christ the King, or you serve the king of lies, which is sin, the world, and death.
Maybe the sign should say:
“No Kings Day… except for the King of the Universe.”
Because one day every knee will bow to Christ the King.
It is never too late to give your heart and your suffering to Jesus. He will love you no matter what you have done.
And today is a perfect day to go to church, because the Church is a hospital for sinners. We are all sick and in need of our medicine.
God bless everyone.
Christ is King.
