Last week I landed myself in the ER at 3am and scheduled for emergency surgery by 8am. I had an entirely booked schedule for the next 10 days and very little time to even contact my immediate appointments for the day.
Now, I have been in business for nearly 7 years and am a single mom of two small children. I learned early on in motherhood I needed a backup plan for sick days and other emergencies or I was going to sink the ship fast. Luckily I have diversified my income since then and hired to help fill in the gaps when I cannot be at work. But this latest event has me remembering those early days and wondering how many other solopreneurs have thought ahead.
This isn't to stress you out if you are new to the entrepreneur world and already spread thin wearing all the hats. This is because I want you to think strategically and plan. Life happens and we aren't always given a heads up. What will you do?
