🚀 Getting Started with Your AI Agent: Tools You’ll Need to Unlock the Power
Hey everyone! 👋
If you’re here, it means you’re ready to set up your very own AI Agent (like Rodger_Bot or any of the others we’re sharing for free in the community).
To make sure everything runs smoothly, there are a few platforms you'll need to sign up for. Don’t worry—it might look like a lot, but most of these are inexpensive, have generous free tiers, or give you enough in their lowest priced tier to be worth it, and they all serve a purpose to help your agent think, act, remember, and communicate.
Step-by-step video tutorials are available for most of these in the "Classroom".
Here’s a simple overview of the services you’ll want to set up:
✅ Must-Have Services
1) OpenAI API: Your agent needs a brain! This is the default AI engine powering your agent’s thoughts and responses. You can use OpenAI or another LLM provider if you prefer.
2) n8n: Think of this as the engine that runs your workflows. It connects all your tools and automates the agent’s behavior. You’ll need to create an account and deploy it (we’ll guide you!).
3) Supabase (or your preferred vector database): This is how your AI remembers things over time. Supabase gives you a free Postgres database and a place to store your agent’s long-term memory.
🌟 Highly Recommended
4) DeepSeek API (optional but awesome): If you want more advanced reasoning and cheaper inference costs, DeepSeek is a great alternative/complement to OpenAI. You can use Claude or OpenAI's o1 model to replace this, but the cost difference is drastic!
🛠️ CRM + Communication
5) HubSpot (or your preferred CRM): This is where your agent can store business cards, contacts, and CRM data. Handy for lead management and business follow-ups.
6) Slack: Rodger_Bot 2.0 is currently built to work beautifully inside Slack. If you’re using something else like Discord or Teams, it can be adapted, but Slack gives you the smoothest experience out of the box.
🌐 Google Cloud Services
If you have a Google Workspace account, this is even easier to set up. These services give your AI access to your digital world: files, docs, email, calendar, search, and more. These are the API's and services you need to enable in your account:
  • Google Drive – For uploading/storing files
  • Google Docs – For creating and editing reports
  • Google Calendar – For scheduling meetings and reminders
  • Gmail – For drafting and sending emails
  • Google Sheets – For spreadsheets and structured data
  • Google Places API – For business lookup and maps integration
  • Google Search – Basic web search functions
  • Custom Search Engine (CSE) – Targeted search powered by your custom criteria. To set this up, simply google "Google Custom Search Engine" and set it up.
🔗 Easy Linking
It’s a one-time setup—and once it’s done, you’ll have your own AI-powered assistant working behind the scenes 24/7.
And remember you can get higher level support by joining our Automate Business AI Advanced Community! 👇
Let me know in the comments which part you want a tutorial for first, and I’ll prioritize that. 👇
