The internet is just a bunch of wires.
Seriously. There's no magic behind it.
When you open YouTube or google.com, here's what's really happening:
✔️ Your phone or laptop sends data to your home router
✔️ Your router sends it out to your internet provider
✔️ Your provider passes it through cables, many of them fiber running under oceans, to a data center
✔️The data center (a building full of servers, switches and routers) sends the video back the same way
That's it. Devices connected by cables, passing data back and forth.
That's also the whole point of a network: connecting devices (computers, phones, even airplanes) so they can communicate. No connection, no communication.
Once you get this, everything else in networking (switches, routers, IP addresses, routing) is just learning HOW that data finds its way.
Question for you: before today, what did you think the internet actually was? Be honest.
