Has anyone read Don Norman's stuff on design?
I got myself a book - Don Norman’s The Design of Everyday Things is essentially the so-called "user manual" for the world around us. In the first chapter, I've gone through the Fundamental Principles of Interaction, and Norman outlines how humans perceive and interact with objects. But, I think it is an amazing way to design lessons (I'm a high school teacher of English, Sociology and Psychology), for teaching and it feels like it would be the same for web interactions too.
Norman's Fundamental Principles of Interaction:
Affordance, What is this object capable of doing?
Signifier, Where and how do I interact with it?
Mapping, Which control goes with which function?
Feedback, Did it work? What happened?
Constraint, What should I not do?
