Claude Code New Update Is INSANE!
Most people lose hours every day using AI tools because they’re stuck at their desk watching tasks run. You start a big coding job, an AI agent is working through files, but you can’t leave your computer without losing control of the session. That’s the problem Anthropic just solved with a new feature for Claude Code called Remote Control.
Claude Code is Anthropic’s AI coding agent that runs directly in your terminal. It can read your project files, write code, run commands, execute tests, and modify your codebase. The catch has always been that you needed to stay at your machine while it worked, especially during long tasks.
Remote Control changes that completely. It allows you to start a Claude Code session on your computer and then monitor or guide that session from your phone or another browser. Instead of sitting at your desk waiting for a process to finish, you can leave your computer and check progress from anywhere.
The way it works is simple. You start a Claude Code session in your terminal and run the remote control command. The system generates a session link and a QR code. When you scan the code with your phone or open the link in a browser, you get a live connection to that running session.
From your phone, you can view progress, send instructions, or guide the AI as it works through the task. The session continues running on your computer exactly as before, but now you’re no longer tied to the desk.
One of the most important parts of this system is how it handles security. Even though you are accessing the session remotely, your files never leave your machine. The actual code execution still runs locally on your computer. The cloud only handles the communication layer that sends messages between your phone and the local session.
This means your project files, development environment, and tools remain on your device. Your phone simply acts as a control panel that lets you interact with the running session.
The setup process is straightforward. First, update Claude Code to the latest version that supports remote control. After logging in to your Claude account through the CLI, start a session in your project directory. From there, run the remote control command or enable it during an active session.
Your terminal will generate a connection link and QR code. Opening that link from your phone connects you instantly to the running task. You can monitor activity, send messages, and guide the AI without returning to your computer.
There are a few limitations to be aware of. Only one remote device can control a session at a time, and the terminal process must stay running on your computer. If the terminal closes or your machine disconnects from the internet for too long, the session will end.
Despite those limits, this feature introduces a new way of working with AI agents. Instead of treating AI as a quick-response tool that finishes tasks in seconds, developers are increasingly running longer processes that may take minutes or even hours to complete.
Remote Control allows those longer workflows to continue without requiring constant supervision. You can start a task, step away from your desk, and still remain connected to the process whenever input is needed.
As AI agents become more capable of handling complex tasks, features like this help remove the biggest bottleneck in the workflow: the human needing to sit in front of the computer while everything runs.
