Website flipping is not new. Buying undervalued websites, improving them, and selling them at a profit has been a legitimate business for fifteen years. AI has changed the cost and speed of the build side of that equation dramatically. A niche website that once required months of content creation and thousands of dollars in writer fees can now be seeded with foundational content in days.
The exit multiples on profitable content sites run 30 to 45 times monthly revenue. A site making $500 a month sells for $15,000 to $22,500. That math has not changed.
🧾 Exhibit A: Google's algorithm updates are real and they are significant.
The prosecution is correct here and the court will not pretend otherwise. Google has spent the last two years aggressively identifying and deranking AI-generated content that lacks genuine expertise, experience, and original insight. Sites built entirely on AI-generated articles with no human editorial layer have been devastated. Entire portfolios went to zero in the March and August 2024 core updates.
The site-building strategy of 2022 does not work in 2026. The court finds this testimony fully credible.
🧾 Exhibit B: The practitioners who survived adapted.
The website builders generating real exit proceeds today are not running AI content farms. They are using AI to accelerate a process that still requires human expertise, original research, and genuine editorial judgment. AI writes the first draft. A human with domain knowledge rewrites, adds original insight, injects real experience, and publishes something that could not exist without a person behind it.
That process is faster and cheaper than it was three years ago. It is not fully automated.
🧾 Exhibit C: The buy-and-improve model is arguably stronger than the build-from-scratch model.
Buying an existing site with proven traffic and revenue history, improving its content quality using AI tools, expanding its topical coverage, and selling it at a higher multiple — that sequence carries far less risk than building cold and hoping for organic growth. The asset already has domain authority. The traffic pattern is already established. The improvement is the value-add.
The court has reached a verdict.

Website flipping with AI assistance is a legitimate play for the practitioner willing to bring genuine expertise to the content layer. Pure AI content farms are guilty. Human-directed AI-assisted editorial operations are not. Know which one you are building before you start.
