Make.com (formerly Integromat) – visual, free-tier, and perfect for HR portfolios Zapier – long-standing and widely compatible
Microsoft Power Automate – ideal for organizations using Microsoft 365
Google Opal (Beta) – a new AI-based automation platform still in testing
💡 Key Insight: The logic remains the same across all tools — learn one, and you can apply the framework to all.
🧭 Process Mapping:
Before building — map your process first.
• A bad process automated is still a bad process.
• Use tools like PowerPoint SmartArt or a whiteboard to visualize every step.
• Follow the 5Ws framework:
- Who triggers it?
- What information is needed?
- When does it happen?
- How does it happen?
- What gets created or sent?

Process automation is about freeing HR’s time for strategy — not replacing people, but amplifying their impact.
