__TL;DR__
I got sick and had surgery. My business stopped because everything runs through me.
I let people down. I am fixing it with 2 things: simple systems and real relationships.
__THE FULL POST__
I had surgery on July 23.
For almost a month before that, I felt sick and did not know why.
If you saw me stop posting here in Skool, this is why.
Here is the worst part:
My business did not just slow down.
It stopped.
Here is the part that really bothers me.
, , and asked me for a custom lead list. So did some other people I’ll tag in the comments. They asked.
I went quiet.
That is a terrible way to treat people.
I did not forget them.
The problem is this: every part of my business still runs through me. When I went down, the whole thing went down.
Now I am healing after surgery. So I might as well fix my business while I fix my body. If I grow even 1% from this, that is a win.
From my couch, I wrote down what broke.
Two things keep a business moving when you can’t:
- The systems you build before you need them.
- The feelings you give people before you need them.

- THE SYSTEMS YOU BUILD BEFORE YOU NEED THEM

I talk about “Five Automation Loops” a lot. That sounds like fancy words. Here is what it really means.
An “automation loop” is one job in your business that keeps going when you are not there. One job that happens the same way every time. No you. No button.
Here are mine in simple words:
Outbound Prospecting – finds the right people, so I don’t start each day with a blank screen.
Impression Stacking – keeps the people I care about seeing me, so I feel familiar before I ever ask for anything.
Ghost Detection – shows me when someone goes quiet, so I don’t lose them.
Inbound Lead Capture – catches people who raise their hand, so they go into a system, not my brain.
Re‑Engagement Detection – watches for the right time to reach out again. New job. New money.
None of these are turned on right now.
Look at which one would have saved me: Inbound Lead Capture.
Tola, Darius, and Ayo raised their hands. No system caught it. No system followed up. No system said, “He’s out, here’s when he’ll be back.”
That is the lesson I am paying for.
We don’t build systems for a busy week. We should build them for the month we vanish.

- THE FEELINGS YOU GIVE PEOPLE BEFORE YOU NEED THEM
_______________________________________________________
When you vanish, people can think many things about you.
Maya Angelou once said:
“People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.”
That feeling is the picture of you in their mind.
That picture can keep your business going when you can’t.
Here’s why I can write this post, instead of hiding and hoping no one saw.
I had already made deposits.
Tola, Darius, and Ayo did not get a lead list from me. But months before this, they saw me show up and give value, without asking for anything back.
I believe that is what is holding those relationships right now. Not a system. Not a tool. Just a history of me serving.
Your business stands on four groups. Each one needs a different kind of “deposit”:
Clients – great results and doing what you said you would do.
Lead partners – give first. Send them a deal before you ask for one. They will pay you back.
Vendors – pay early, reply fast.
Inner circle – show up. Be there.
I call this “Alliance Mapping.” It just means: you choose, on purpose, who gets your time and care. You don’t let it happen by accident.
Here is what one month flat on my back showed me:
The relationships where I made real deposits stayed warm.
Everything else went cold. And stayed cold.
Nothing else explained it.
So here is my question for you. I am asking as someone who failed at this, not someone above it.
If you had to stop working for a month, starting tomorrow, who would keep your business moving?
If your honest answer is, “No one and nothing,” then you are where I am. I am just one step further into fixing it.
Systems hold the machine together.
Relationships hold the business together.
I had the second one. Now I am building the first.
Tola, Darius, Ayo – your lead lists are getting built this week. Thank you for waiting on me. (If you're interested in this too, let me know)
